Envitech Energy System Controller

Envitech Energy has gained an international reputation in control systems and automation applied to power generation, rail transportation and industrial processes.

Power converters and controllers for renewable energy systems

Dedicated to optimizing resources and ensuring energy efficiency, Envitech engineers have developed power converters and controllers specially adapted to renewable energy power systems. Envitech technology can offer the best system for the needs of an on-grid, an isolated-grid or an off grid system. Envitech mid-stage power conversion technology provides all the flexibility and advanced features that wind turbines and solar panels need. Combined with a diesel generator, our power controllers give the wind and solar power systems the power stability and predictability for the most demanding applications. It also optimizes diesel generator usage according to your power demand and other available sources (wind and solar).

Vertical-axis Wind Turbine Controller

The challenge:

The challenge was to develop a turbine that adapts to wind speed and consequently optimizes power generation. Envitech developed an innovative commercial installation intended to serve as a model for future projects.

The solution:

To maximize power capture and make this energy grid-ready, Envitech designed a multi step power system controller to take the wind turbine energy and convert it into regulated AC power. To do this, Envitech customized a power controller that converts the turbine AC power in one mid-stage DC power that could connect other power sources to this common DC bus. Envitech then designed the system to reconvert the DC power into grid quality regulated AC power. The system can be expanded to incorporate a battery system that provides additional power regulation when power demand varies.

The Envitech results: Innovative energy efficiency.

After testing the prototype and completing development, Envitech provided the power converters and controllers for the first commercial installation at Pioneer Bluff, Ishpeming, Michigan, a government subsidized senior citizen apartment building. The new installation will provide more than half of Pioneer Bluff's energy needs. The Envitech team is proud to contribute its power converter and controller system to this innovative and energy efficiency initiative.
