Letter of Endorsement, Letter of Commitment, to Market and Monetize Renewable Energy Certificates, Energy Efficiency Certificates and Greenhouse Gas Emission Reductions
|
I write to you in support of Clean Green Energy, LLC on Project EVERGREEN Schools™ program. We are pleased to support the marketing and sales of renewable energy certificates (RECs), Energy Efficiency Certificates (EECs) and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission Reductions (CO2 Offsets) originating from your proposed projects.
Please accept this letter as an endorsement of Clean Green Energy. In this letter, we present Sterling Planet’s capabilities as a retail renewable energy provider. Sterling Planet feels that our retail renewable energy marketing and innovative product development skills, combined with a commitment to excellence in providing third-party certified renewable energy products, will provide Project EVERGREEN SchoolsTM with a dedicated and reliable business partner.
Sterling Planet believes that the offering of specially-branded RECs, EECs and CO2 Offsets is a great opportunity for schools to demonstrate and publicize their commitment to the environment, the students and other stakeholders. Sterling Planet believes our end-use customers, such as Intel Corporation, PepsiCo, Cisco Corporation, Harvard University, Yale University and many other like-minded organizations will find these environmental products attractive due to the sustainable co-benefits that Project EVERGREEN SchoolsTM can provide. Residential and business customers alike will want to provide support for these projects by purchasing branded REC, EEC and CO2 Offsets based upon the sustainable co-benefits that they create; specifically, the re-investment of sales revenues back to educational programs, scholarships and other meaningful funding targets to be identified by a School District.
We commend Clean Green Energy for its work in developing Project EVERGREEN SchoolsTM program, a program meant to drive revenue streams back to schools not only to add to the economics of the projects, but also to deliver sustainable co-benefits to the stakeholders in the projects, with particular focus on the students. Clean Green Energy has the technical expertise necessary for successful implementation of distributed generation projects, and we feel that we can add significant value to this effort through our expertise in the national renewable energy, energy efficiency and emerging carbon markets.
Sterling Planet is the leading U.S. retail provider of solar, wind and other clean, renewable energy through direct sales and electric utility partnerships. Founded in 2000, Sterling Planet was the first company to offer RECs to every U.S. home and business as a way to support sustainable energy production that benefits the environment, the economy and society in general. Today, Sterling Planet also markets White Tag™ Energy Efficiency Certificates and has 1,432 large commercial and industrial clients nationwide, including 73 utility partners, 53 universities, and 149 government agencies, in Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and elsewhere. The company also aims to emerge as the world’s leading provider of the full range of climate neutral solutions to businesses and organizations worldwide.
As the only true nationwide organization focused exclusively on mandatory and voluntary renewable energy, energy efficiency and GHG emissions markets, Sterling Planet has been an active participant in tradable environmental commodity markets since its inception and is a key stakeholder to state, regional, national and international climate change policy discussions. As a result, Sterling Planet has developed strong relationships with partners and clients involved in best-practices in climate change management and enterprise-wide mitigation of GHG emissions.
During 2007 demand for RECs, EECs and voluntary carbon offsets grew at a tremendous pace. Businesses, colleges and universities, and other organizations helped to build a credible consumer base that encouraged Project EVERGREEN SchoolsTM to develop a strategy around the sales and marketing of ‘special’ environmental products associated with schools and re-investment programs. Sterling Planet will work in coordination with Project EVERGREEN SchoolsTM to access certain commercial and organizational clients to sell the attributes at a significant premium to standard wholesale market prices.
In summary, Sterling Planet believes that given its market position and expertise, the voluntary market in the U.S. can support the successful monetization of a School District’s environmental attributes. Given the unique aspects of this re-investment program, Sterling Planet is committed to providing Project EVERGREEN SchoolsTM with our best efforts in environmental commodity management and monetization.
We hope the information we have presented helps Clean Green Energy in its pursuit of School District project development goals. If you need more information, please don’t hesitate to contact me at (404) 513-0259 or at mjones@sterlingplanet.com
Sincerely,
Mel Jones
